NORTHERN THAILAND

UNREACHED.

Unreached and unevangelized:

90% of the people living in the 10/40 Window are unevangelized. Many have never heard the Gospel message even once. There are either no Christians or not enough of a Christian movement in many cultures of the 10/40 Window to carry out vibrant near-neighbor evangelism. If those groups are to be evangelized, believers will need to leave their own culture and enter another one where they will seek to plant the gospel, perhaps even learning a new language in order to communicate. Such cross-cultural evangelism is required because there are people groups with no church movements that are understandable or relevant to them.

Northern Thailand is home to a large population of unreached people groups (UPG’s).   Over 96% of the Northern Thai people are Buddhists with less than .4% being Christian.   As we attempt to walk in obedience to the Lord with the call placed on our lives, it’s our prayer that He will give us many opportunities to share the gospel with those who’ve never had opportunity to hear.

Thailand also has the largest Chinese population of any country outside of China with just over 9 million making up 11% of Thailand’s population!  While learning the Thai (and Northern Thai dialect) language will be necessary, we’re thankful that we’ll be able to continue the use of our Mandarin!
